Two cultures. One platform.

In a world of chaos, there is a simple language that binds us all: movement. That is why E-Dance Theatre decided to take hiphop off the streets and merge it with modern/ contemporary dance to tell a story.

fUSEd is a gamble on the single similarity between two different dance forms that are not normally associated with each other: the need to differentiate, the search for a unique expression. Hiphop is a product of communities looking for an identity in the streets where they felt free to express themselves, modern dance is a break-away from the rigidities of classical ballet. Despite the varying techniques, E-dance bravely took the challenge to weave these two dance forms together in an effort to create a new dimension in performing arts.

fUSEd charms the audience through the creative portrayal of daily life. The nameless characters tell the story of you and me, the person right next to you on the train, the one you passed on the street on your way to work, the one you might bump into on your lunch break, fellow travelers going in, out, and along this chaotic world.

Born in 2002, E-Dance Theatre is a group of young independent artists seeking alternative spaces to enhance their technique and experiment with different forms of performing arts. Inspired by the growth of multi-media and interactive technology, and the contemporary dance tradition, E-dance engages in collaborative experiments with other artists from different fields, exploring the different approaches to creating dance.

fUSEd is E-Dance’s most recent experiment, made possible with the special participation of Philippine All Stars. Showing on November 12, 2010, at Tanghalang Pasigueño, Pasig City. For more info, please contact Katrina @ 09178228601

The Ateneo Art Auction 2010

Bidding for Blue Chip Legacy and Dreams

For two years now, the Ateneo Alumni Association (AAA) has been at the forefront of raising funds for various social involvement concerns through the Ateneo Art Auction. The first auction in 2008 featured works from the masters such as Amorsolo, Malang and Anita Magsaysay-Ho to name a few and several from the most sought after contemporary artists like MM Yu and Bembol dela Cruz. The proceeds helped build several houses for the AAA GK Community in Payatas. In 2009, around 40 select pieces from almost 50 established (such as Ang Kiukok, Arturo Luz and Lao Lianben) and emerging artists (such as Ronald Ventura and Lynyrd Paras) were given to the highest bidders during the live auction. This allowed the Association to donate 1.2 million pesos to the Ateneo Scholarship Fund.

This year, we hope to raise more scholarship funds for deserving but financially disadvantaged students of the Ateneo de Manila University Loyola School of Humanities. The Auction will be held on Saturday, 2nd of October 2010 at the Finale Art File located at La Fuerza Compound, 2241 Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati City, with a preview starting Thursday 30th of September 2010.

We believe that this is an excellent opportunity to partner with us for a noble cause—to enable academically gifted but financially disadvantaged students to become future leaders in their respective fields.

Let the bidding begin!
