Adam Carolla vs Manny Pacquiao & the Philippines

Here we go again, anther comedian says something about the Philippines and everyone and their mom thinks it’s the end of the world.

If you haven’t heard, talk show host and American comedian Adam Carolla went on a pretty funny (in my opinion) rant about the holy saint / prodigal son / chosen one / prophet almighty of the Philippines, Manny Pacman Pacquiao.

Examiner.com reports:

Adam Carolla starts off his vulgar tirade by bashing Manny for not giving blood before a fight. He then proceeds to say that Manny is off “praying to chicken bones” and that you don’t have to respect him because he’s a “fu**ing idiot”. “Someone has to tell him that it doesn’t make a difference.”

“Here’s how you know when your country doesn’t have a lot going for it: When everything is about Manny Pacquiao.”

“Get a fu**in life as a country”

“All you fu**in got is just an illiterate guy who happens to smash other guys in the head better than other people”

“Really, you want some guy with brain damage running your country? Why don’t you get your sh*t together?”

“All they have over there is Manny Pacquiao and sex stores.”

“What happens when Floyd Mayweather beats him? Does your country go into depression?”

I laughed a bit when I read that. Especially about the part where he questions the aftermath of a Pacman loss. Which does have it’s credits. I’m not quite sure how fans will react to a Manny Pacquiao loss at this stage of his career. Especially considering many people take many things, like this meaningless rant of Carolla’s, too seriously.

I’ve had my share of saying some things that I thought were absolutely harmless, yet got hate comments talking about how I’ve offended people by joking about locals re-using Christmas gift-wrappers. These people I’ve offended of course also add an encore by sending death threats and saying that I should die (Lol – click ignore).

In my opinion, it’s more of a personal matter where insecurity usually leads people to get defensive. People, who know who they are and are confident in who they are, do not easily get offended by others who call them out.

If you told Michael Jordan that he was a bad basketball player, instead of threatening you back or complaining, he would use that doubt you have and push himself to do better on the court. He’s confident in himself, he knows what he can do and that he doesn’t take everything everyone says too personally. If you however tell a struggling basketball player that he sucks, well then, you’ll get lots of hate mail, anger, frustration and more negative reactions.  It’s because the struggling basketball player is insecure about himself and thus, every little thing you say just makes things worse.

ou think Adam Carolla does not know what he’s talking about in this matter? Well, duh. Doesn’t really take a rocket scientist to figure that out. I know for a fact that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Which is exactly why I don’t bother lowering myself to even bother being offended by what he has to say.
Why waste any of my time or energy feeding off negative emotions towards an idiot? Why lower myself to that?
And that my friend is what is annoying about “people like you.” You waste time with negative energy towards an idiot like Adam Carolla and his pointless rant that had no justification.

That’s my two cents. Love it or hate it. Hopefully people can realize that words are just words and that they should instead work to prove these words wrong, rather than go on a fruitless rampage.

Please direct all hate mail to my cat, Snug, who was the main influence that trained me to be a blunt, idiotic, country hater.

Question, was he actually trying to be funny? was he really being a comedian when he said those words? because i think what youre trying to say is that he’s just trying to be funny. Well is he, really? I dont think he was. And thats whats so freaking annoying about it and people like you just dont get it. he was totally convinced with himself that he knows all about the philippines and you can judge it by the way he talks. bottom line, he was definitely NOT joking when he said those words with conviction, just to correct you on that. Youre judgement is pretty poor though to say that it was all just for laughs. And you shouldnt blame filipinos if they felt even an inch of hate when they found out about this. Its human nature to react negatively if they think they are being attacked in some way. just my two cents.

Carolla’s not an “idiot”. He can act like an idiot. He’s half of what made the Man Show funny. Like to see you try that, see how well you do. The show died after the two original hosts left btw. An idiot is some witless asian MIT student who goes out on the street to ask who’s more annoying, drunk white or drunk asian chicks, and posts the vid on Youtube. This guy was such a bore and negatively received. Now if Carolla took the same idea, that would be something, because Carolla actually knows how to pester chicks on street, drunk or otherwise.

“If you told Michael Jordan that he was a bad basketball player, instead of threatening you back or complaining, he would use that doubt you have and push himself to do better on the court.”

No, no. no, Jordan would simply be amused. Laughable premise. And you really think you know what you are talking about?

Not sure I get what your point is with that…..

You’re saying that Adam Carolla is a genius and that Michael Jordan does not use any doubt towards him as motivation on the court?

I was really just trying to say that Adam Carolla isn’t really a cultural expert so people shouldn’t really take what he said about the Philippines too seriously. He’s not an “idiot idiot” but still an idiot.

My fellow filipinos please just ignore Adam Carolla because it’s not worth it. He is just trying to get some ratings/buzz with his name because he has a pilot show coming up on NBC. His former co-host Jimmy Kimmel has a late night show and Adam is barely getting by with a f*cking podcast. Isn’t it ironic that Jimmy Kimmel invites Pac-man to his show?!? Let Adam and his followers go back to worshiping Tiger Woods and his porn stars because we all know they are far more high and mighty than the rest of us.
BTW I’m not a fan of Manny nor do I support him running for congress.

OFF-TOPIC. Adam didn’t mention anything about Pacquiao being a sucky boxer. Nevertheless, I haven’t heard anything saying that Pacquiao is gone crying because of that insensitive and stupid racist remark. My point? You’re STUPID, ASSHOLE. I guess you weren’t raised properly by your parents, letting you feed on pussies and putting dicks into your butt as child’s play. Yeah. This is my insensitive and stupid comment so live with it ’cause you don’t have a right to be uppity about this.

By the way, great way of expressing your thoughts.

I respect your opinion on this but you did miss out on one thing. Corolla has listeners. People who know nothing about our country and our people may take his words seriously. That is in itself slanderous. Not everyone is smart enough to know that this guy is an idiot. With the way he delivered his statements, it was no way near the way a joke sounds. I for one don’t take him seriously, I’ve seen this guy since the Man Show. Just for laughs, I’d like to see this guy put his money where his mouth is. Why don’t he bet on any guy Manny is going to fight next. Now that will be fun..

Yes, I see your point. He should be more sensitive as a public figure.

Though my two questions with that are –

Is there really any way to cater to everyone? Even those like you say “Not everyone is smart enough to know that this guy is an idiot.” types?

Second, I’m just curious, but comedians joke all the time about African Americans, comedians use the N word and call them stupid, they call rednecks stupid, they call President Bush stupid, they call Americans stupid, they call Jews stupid, greedy and stingy… etc…. yet we never hear them demanding an apology. Why is that? And really, that’s what I wonder about. Is it because the Filipino culture is too sensitive? Or is the culture too insecure? Why get offended when just anyone says almost anything even slightly negative, even when it’s clear that they know nothing of the culture to give a proper opinion?

The reality is, hindi natin masisisi kung sinabi ni adam carolla na ang lahi natin ay walang alam. We are showing it through our actions. Napag iwanan na nga tayo ng ibang bansa e, even our neighboring countries in asia. We cannot blame him in saying such things about manny pacquiao and our country. Kasalanan din nating mga Pilipino kaya tayo inaalipusta at pinapahiya ng mga kano. Kasalanan natin kasi sa totoo lang ayaw naman nating maging Pilipino e, gusto nating maging amerikano na lang. Wala tayong sense of identity that’s why we don’t even know who we are as a nation. So sad but true, I just hope na one day magising na tayo sa reality na we need to change the way we look ourselves as a Filipino. Adam Carolla is certainly NOT joking when he spoke those words against manny and our country. We need to wake up fellow Filipinos.

What exactly are you doing then? I think that “people like you” try to go “against the flow” just to seem different.you probably are, you’re just a lot more stupid than you think everyone else is. i don’t give a shit about what he said. but i don’t blog about it so i can feed my ego from getting positive or worse, negative feedbacks from people who are actually affected. now, YOU should get a life :)

I wrote this to discuss it but not to be pissed off that Adam Carolla said things like that.

Ok so Anna, you say I’m more stupid because I don’t want to waste time on this and be negative about it, yet I wrote a blog about it… While you say you “don’t give a shit about what he said but (you) don’t blog about it…” well I’m glad to see though that you really don’t give a shit, not even enough to comment about it or read about it on other’s blogs… =)

And yes, I will try my very best to “get a life” as you say. Hopefully a life more livelier than one such as yours, where you read blogs written by people who need to get a life…

@anna, there where others but your argument is the most asinine in this post hands down. I was torn between rolling my eyes first or laughing my ass off because you obviously did not get it. What i think is “stupid” is when people comment on blogs where they clearly didn’t comprehend the content.

If you intend to attack a blogger at least do about it in an intelligent manner. Calling him stupid and just “trying to be different” makes you look more ignorant. I guess i should explain to you that the post is not meant to side with the american comedian, but to simply point out and ask ourselves if we need to lower ourselves by being outrageously mad when its evident that the man is no expert to his claims.

To make it more simple for you, the blog means this: Carolla is a slime, we should treat him as such and not mind whatever foolish thing that came out of his mouth. Capisce?

YOU, need to grow up anna before you can call out someone to get a life..

Instead of trying to cover up the problem that people see the Philippines as a place to go on sex tours and corruption is king, then why dont you start on May 10th to elect honest people to position of power and get rid of the dead wood in congress, get rid of the crooks in the courts appointed by GMA(AND GET RID OF HER TOO) then maybe the robberry, murders, mass killing like what happened in Mindanao on Novemeer 23rd might stop. BUT the same ‘old boys’ will get reelected and nothing changes. The world will continue to see the Philippinesa as a land of sex tours and from where the nurses come from. This guy ADAM CAROLLA should be like a wake up call. The rich get richer and the poor are still living in places like Tondo or Smokie Mtn. WAKE UP PHILIPPINES MAY 10TH IS COMING SOON
