Mars Close to Earth or Two Moons on August 27 (Double Moon)

You may have heard the reports about two moons on August 27, double moons or Mars close to Earth. There was an elaborate story as to why such a phenomena of two moons in one night was possible only once in every hundred thousand or so years.

Unfortunately, your dreams of glancing at a horizon with the twin moons of Alderaan like Luke Skywalker from Star Wars came crashing down faster than your overweight aunt did when she quit smoking! The two moons on August 27 turned out to be nothing more than a hoax.

It’s actually funny how the email that started this two moons on August 27, double moons or Mars close to Earth hoax gets circulated every year. And every year, thousands of people try to look upon the sky for two moons on August 27, double moons or Mars close to Earth.

So you heard it right. Nothing going on with those fake rumors about the moon and mars August 2010.

The good news is…. that I have proven that this is actually a fact! I’ve seen the two moons on August 27, double moons or Mars close to Earth and I took a picture of this rare event, as seen below….
